I haven't had a huge career of jobs, but have lasted a while at them. The first major job was working at The Keg, while the second, and current job, is the City of Mississauga
I started at the Keg in Brampton on the recommendation of my brother, James. And of course, it was in Dishpit that I started my career. Let me just tell you how NOT fun that was. It was literally the worst job in the place, and dirtiest. After about 1/2 a year or more, I was allowed into the kitchen, to start as a BA, a broiler assistant. Basically that involved cooking appetizers and side dishes. Then I moved to Second Cook, who set up the plates, took care of seafood and the main dinner sides like potatoes or rice. The next step was first cook, doing the actual steaks on the gril. That was about the top of the "food chain" in the Keg. But I actually went down a bit when I went to College, switching to Food Prep, coming in during the day to get the food ready for each nites sales.
While at the Keg, we all heard stories about the "ghost" that lived in the building. Some talked about hearing steps, some saw things, and others had strange things happen. It actually ended up into a local Brampton newspaper:
I also worked for about a year at the Dixon Rd Keg, in full time prep. That was a Keg open for lunch and dinner, and was the busiest in Canada. Here's a bunch of the people I've worked with over time in the Broiler Bar in Brampton:
A few years back, the Brampton Keg made a move to its new location, up near Kennedy and highway 7. Before the original shut down, a bunch of staff got together to say goodbye.
While I was at School in Sheridan, I received an award for my marks, which was a work term at the City of Mississauga. I worked in the storm drainage section for a school term, before returning to class to finish my diploma. Upon graduation, the same position became available, and since 1993, I've worked at the City.
